Sarah is a whiz with a pen and a wisk. A writer by day and a baker by night, she is always looking for simple, delicious recipes to make for her lumber jack sized, sweets lovin' husband. Three years in the field of journalism have taught her that sometimes the only way to get out that pent up frustration is to beat an egg with some sugar to make a delectable meringue (and yes, I have had those days when the eggs just won't stiffen and you end up crying into a box of vanilla wafers while the eggs turn to mush in the sink).
Baking (and cooking) in the kitchen made its way into my heart as a little kid. One Christmas my brother gave me an Easy Bake Oven and from that day on, I was hooked. Sadly, in college I got away from my love of baking and since becoming a professional writer, strangely I neglected my love of writing as well. This blog, is my attempt to remedy both of these tragic happenings in my life.

Now, break out that Kitchen Aid and let's get to mixin'.
Lydia- the reluctant domestic
Lydia started cooking because she had to feed herself and a very hungry husband. But she didn't start liking it until about 2008 when she learned that cooking, much like reading, is something one can totally control. She sometimes uses too much garlic and insists on cooking everything on high, but who's gonna know that?
She doesn't believe dinner should come from a drive through window and often relies on pasta and pre-made pesto sauce and shrimp. Ahhh shrimp. She can't bake so save her life every layer cake ends up crumbling so we shall leave that up to Sarah.
Lydia, also a journalist, is still learning to manage a busy daily newsroom without hiding in the bathroom to cry. Baby steps.
She lives in a of Northwest Georgia with her amazing husband, referred to as Beardface UnStoppable and their three dogs.
The Blog Project
Since you are following our blog adventure, we thought you might want to know why exactly we are doing this.
Well, it's quite simple. We love to write, and we love to be in the kitchen. Pretty simply huh? But, the real reason for the birth of this blog is this:
(Here's a little background from SarahJane-*cue sappy music*)
Lydia and I met after I took her old job at a little (but fabulous) newspaper called the Calhoun Times. While Lydia moved into the big, bad world of a daily paper in Rome, I was fresh out of college and starting out on my first "real world" job. Lydia helped me through everything. My first day, my first murder (covering it that is), my first break-down, my first football season, well, you get the point. This little relationship of patient teacher and unraveling student formed quite the wonderful friendship over the past eight months. So last week while reading some of my fave foodie blogs, I decided I wanted to start a blog of my own, with one of the most amazingly talented (writing and cooking-wise) women that I know. That brought me to Lydia (I call her Lids, get over it), and this little cross-country blog project was born.
So let's get to the point of this blog already, right? Well, Lydia is staying in Georgia, but I am moving to Colorado. Lydia loves to cook good Southern food, so she will, and it will blow your socks off. I on the other hand will begin life at more than a mile high as a baker. So, while I struggle to figure out how to keep my cakes fluffy and my life in tact at that altitude, you wonderful, dedicated readers will be going with us as Lids and I keep in touch with each other while creating mouth-watering treats for all of you.
